New Housing Bills for California Go Into Effect in the New Year

New changes are coming to housing in California. Governor Gavin Newsom signed several bills into law this year that impact housing in the state. These bills will let tenants charge electric scooters and bikes in their apartments, prevent tenants from being evicted based on suspected criminal activity and cap the amount charged for a security deposit to one month’s rent. Another law going into effect removes barriers for religious organizations, nonprofit colleges and churches to build affordable housing on their land. These bills will go into effect January 1st.
