Non-Profits Contracted with Sonoma County Write Letter Over Late Payments

Several non-profits with contracts with the County of Sonoma are still airing their displeasure. Last week, 25 non-profits sent a letter to Department of Health Services Director Tina Rivera, Board of Supervisors Chairperson Chris Coursey, and federal and state representatives saying that the county needs to do more by paying them in a timely fashion. They stressed their importance, especially during times to crisis, and how untimely payments affect that. They even called out the Board of Supervisors writing they “may not fully understand the nature of the level of expertise needed to maintain viable programs for those in our community who are the most vulnerable and marginalized. The Press Democrat reports that the Department of Health Services began to issue payments in November. However, a number of providers say they are still owed money.
