Sonoma County and Napa County are a step closer to trading pieces of land. On Tuesday, the Napa County Board of Supervisors approved the first reading of a land swap ordinance. If it gets final approval, Napa County would take about one-point-four acres of land from Sonoma County, which would get two-hundredths of an acre back. The issue involves an area where the county line cuts through an existing winery near Saint Helena. The owner of Paloma Vineyard says his family has paid property taxes to Napa County since 1983, on the assumption that all of the land was in Napa County. He recently found out that wasn’t the case.
