The fire departments of Sonoma, Lake and Mendocino Counties are competing in the 18th annual Bucket Brigade Challenge. More than a dozen cities have been hosting weekly blood drives since December, and they will continue through the end of January. The local fire departments are competing to collect the most blood donations. The winning department will get the Bucket Trophy. January is considered National Blood Donor Month.
