Man Arrested at Cloverdale Bank Trying to Steal Client Information

A Kentucky man was arrested Tuesday after trying to steal client information from a Cloverdale bank using forged documents. Staff at Cloverdale’s Redwood Credit Union branch recognized the man as he tried to get statements of an account holder using a counterfeit U.S. passport, as he had done at other bank locations. Bank staff contacted the Cloverdale Police Department, and they detained the man, 53-year-old Mark Buckler. Police said Buckler admitted to trying to get the personal documents by using information gathered on the darknet. Buckler was arrested and booked into the Sonoma County jail in Santa Rosa on suspicion of felony forgery, felony burglary and misdemeanor identity theft.
