Jury selection is underway for the trial of a former Napa County school employee accused of sexually abusing children. Thirty-four-year-old Benjamin Casas, a former Pope Valley Union Elementary School District employee, was in court on Monday. He is facing 23 charges related to the alleged sexual abuse of five children dating back to 2013. He is also accused of abusing a sixth child in 2010, but no charges were filed in that case. Opening statements could happen as soon as tomorrow if a jury is seated. Casas faces life in prison if convicted as charged.
