The rainstorm that pounded Sonoma County during the weekend was the wettest of the rainy season so far in most areas. Western Sonoma County, specifically the coastal hills, recorded more than seven inches of rain between Friday afternoon and early Monday. An area just east of Camp Meeker reported seven-point-two-one inches of rain. Most other parts of Sonoma County saw between two and five inches of rain, while Charles M. Schulz-Sonoma County Airport had three-and-a-half inches of rain during the weekend. This was enough to push the county past its historical rainfall average for this time of year.
No one is injured after several trees fell during rain and strong winds in Sonoma County. Early Monday morning, a redwood tree came crashing down into a house in Monte Rio. The tree smashed into the front deck, the corner of the house, and punctured the water line. Firefighters believe the house will be temporarily condemned due to the damage. On Sunday night, another tree fell on top of a parked car near Monte Rio, which saw peak wind gusts of 25-miles-per-hour. No one was inside the car. A falling tree also damaged the side of a house in Santa Rosa on Saturday.
