A jury convicted a Santa Rosa man of a stabbing that occurred a year after another jury found him guilty of taking the skull of a local resident found dead at a home in Santa Rosa. Robert Melvin Ross III sat silently Friday afternoon as the verdict was read in Sonoma County Superior Court in Santa Rosa before Judge Dana Beernink Simonds. The jury of eight men and four women received the case about 11 a.m. Thursday before convicting Ross of attempted voluntary manslaughter, robbery, cruelty to an elder and mayhem. He’s scheduled to be sentenced April 18 and faces up to life in prison.
