Petaluma Man Sentenced for Domestic Violence and Witness Intimidation Crimes

A Petaluma man has been sentenced to 25 years in prison for several crimes “relating to domestic abuse and witness intimidation.” Forty-three-year-old David Charles Moon was given his sentence last week after pleading guilty to several crimes on January 12th. Moon assaulted his former girlfriend in November of 2022, choking the victim with his hands and a pillow. Following the assault, Moon intimidated the victim by sending her threatening text messages. In April of 2023, Moon vandalized the victim’s vehicle and used an encrypted messaging application called “Telegram” to threaten the victim with numerous messages warning her to not call the police, as well as threatening her life. Moon had a prior strike conviction for a 2007 kidnapping in Marin County in which Moon posed as an FBI agent and kidnapped a man for ransom.
