Early In-Person Voting for Sonoma County Begins This Weekend

SANTA ROSA, CA – Early in-person voting for the March 5, 2024, Presidential Primary Election opens this weekend, Deva Marie Proto, Sonoma County Clerk-Recorder-Assessor-Registrar of Voters, announced today. Seven vote centers will be open for 11 consecutive days (including weekends) from Saturday, Feb. 24, to Election Day, Tuesday, March 5. Hours of operation for the vote centers will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., except on Election Day itself when the hours will be extended from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The seven vote centers opening this weekend are as follows (listed in alphabetical order by city):

Cotati Veterans Memorial Building, 8505 Park Avenue, Cotati

Healdsburg Community Center, 1557 Healdsburg Avenue, Healdsburg

Petaluma Community Center, 320 North McDowell Boulevard, Petaluma

Santa Rosa Veterans Memorial Building – North Room, 1351 Maple Avenue, Santa Rosa

Sonoma County Registrar of Voters, 435 Fiscal Drive, Santa Rosa

Sebastopol Center for the Arts, 282 South High Street, Sebastopol

Sonoma Veterans Memorial Building, 126 1st Street West, Sonoma

An additional 24 vote centers (for a grand total of 31) will open the following weekend. These 24 vote centers will be open for four consecutive days from Saturday, March 2, to Election Day, Tuesday, March 5. Hours of operation will be the same for the original seven vote centers (9 a.m. to 5 p.m. before Election Day, 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Election Day).

In accordance with state law, all active registered voters in Sonoma County should have been mailed vote-by-mail ballots earlier this month. Anyone who believes they are registered but did not receive a ballot in the mail should contact the Registrar of Voters Office. Voters who wish to send in their vote-by-mail ballot rather than vote in person can return their ballot in the following ways:

Return it through the mail. In order to count, it must be postmarked* on or before Election Day.

*Note: If you are placing your ballot in a USPS collection box on March 5 (Election Day), it is important that you note the last collection time listed on the box. If your ballot is placed in the USPS collection box AFTER the last collection time for that box, it will not be postmarked until the following day.

Drop it in one of 21 official ballot drop boxes throughout the county. The drop boxes are open 24 hours a day, seven days a week until 8 p.m. on Election Day.

Drop it off at any open vote center.

Notice: No drive-thru drop box at Registrar of Voters Office

The 24/7 drive-through Official Ballot Drop Box that had long been located in front of the Sonoma County Registrar of Voters Office at 435 Fiscal Drive in Santa Rosa is no longer available. Instead, there is a 24/7 official ballot drop box located two blocks away in front of the Sonoma County Administration Building at 575 Administration Drive. In addition, voters are welcome to come inside the Registrar of Voters Office to drop off their ballots during business hours.

The Sonoma County Registrar of Voters Office is located at 435 Fiscal Drive in Santa Rosa. Until further notice, the office will be open weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. In addition, the office will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the two weekends prior to Election Day (Feb. 24-25, March 2-3) and from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Election Day itself.
