BoDean Company, a construction materials supplier in Santa Rosa, is vowing to fight a record eight-point-six-million-dollar fine. The fine was issued by the North Coast Regional Water Quality Control Board, which says there were storm water discharge violations at the company’s rock quarry between Santa Rosa and Calistoga. BoDean says its environmental practices are higher than industry standards. A three-day hearing on the violations and the fine is scheduled for this fall. The company and the board previously tried but failed to negotiate a settlement in the case.
