The state’s only ballot measure is barely passing. Prop 1, a bond measure backed by Governor Gavin Newsom to help solve the state’s mental health and homelessness crisis, currently has just over 50-percent of the vote. If it holds, the prop would redirect an existing tax on the rich under the state’s 20-year-old Mental Health Services Act to fund services for people with substance abuse disorders. It also includes a $6.4-billion bond to build more than 10,000 treatment beds. As for local voters, over 57-percent of Sonoma Voters approve of Prop 1.
