Petaluma Health Center is laying off 32 staff members, including eight medical workers. All of the employees were hired during the pandemic. Their positions were paid for with federal COVID-19 funding, but that funding ran out in December. During the pandemic, the health center was getting about five-million-dollars in government COVID-19 funding each year. The facility’s interim CEO says the move was part of an effort to restructure the organization after the pandemic emergency ended.
