Former Owner of Manka’s Inverness Lodge Dies at the Age of 72

The former owner of Manka’s Inverness Lodge has passed away. Margaret Grade was injured in a car crash on January 11th and died from complications to her injuries on February 28th. She was 72-years-old. Grade was a neuropsychologist who purchased Manka’s Inverness Lodge in Marin County in 1989 with her brother, Thomas. After a remodel, the lodge became popular spot for celebrities like Robert Redford, Thomas Keller, and even Prince Charles and his wife Camilla. Unfortunately, the lodge burned down in 2006 after an oak tree fell and severed a propane line during a storm. Chef Elizabeth Falkner and actors Jake and Maggie Gyllenhaal were asleep upstairs at the time.
