The state official who oversees California’s elections has given the go ahead for groups who want to recall Governor Gavin Newsom. Secretary of State Dr. Shirley Weber says signature gathering for a Newsom recall can take place.  This is the latest effort to recall the governor.  Last month, Rescue California said it was filing a notice of intent. The group says it can justify removing Newsom because it says he has failed to deal with the state’s growing homelessness problem, high taxes, a large budget deficit, rising crime rates and immigration issues.  In 2021, Newsom easily fought off a recall effort.  Opponents will have to gather more than one-point-three-million verified signatures in a petition drive that will last until September 3rd to put a measure on the ballot.
