A deputy who was critically injured in a car chase and shootout in Santa Rosa has finally been released from the hospital. Deputy Nick Dellia was released from the hospital Tuesday morning after a long 22-day stay. Several dozen members of the law enforcement community and others greeted Dellia as he exited, giving him a salute and a round of applause. Dellia even waived to the crowd as he was being put inside an ambulance heading to a rehab facility. On the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Facebook page, the department wrote “Deputy Dellia still has a long road to recovery and we are all pulling for him.” Dellia was injured in a shootout and chase on March 4th when a fellow deputy accidentally ran him over. The suspect in that incident died at the scene.
