Work is underway to clear San Quentin’s infamous death row. Inmates are being moved out of Marin County to other prisons across the state, even released into the general population. It’s a result of Proposition 66, which lets the men leave their cells for work. The inmates can’t stay in San Quentin because it doesn’t have an electrified fence and is being transformed into a rehabilitation center. The goal is to have all transfers complete by July.
