An initiative to limit the size of livestock and poultry farms in Sonoma County has qualified for the ballot. The Coalition to End Factory Farming, made up of animal welfare advocates and small producers, has collected enough valid signatures from registered voters to get the measure on the ballot. The Sonoma County Board of Supervisors will now decide when the initiative goes in front of voters, which could very well be this November. Supporters of the initiative say many of the county’s largest livestock and poultry operations are factory farms.
