A dead person was found inside a boat along the rocky shoreline near Chimney Rock at Point Reyes. Yesterday afternoon, Sonoma County Sheriff’s helicopter Henry-1 was called to investigate the boat crash on the shore. The helicopter crew lowered rescue personnel there using a long line rescue. The boat, which was resting on rocks, was being battered by the incoming waves causing it to list to the side. It had sustained damage and was taking on water. Inside, crews found a dead person who was placed into a rescue device and flown to nearby Fire Personnel. The body was then turned over to the Marin County Coroner’s Office who will be investigating the death. The person hasn’t been identified publicly pending family notification.
