Mitote Food Park in Santa Rosa Plays Host to Transgender Visibility Event

The local trans community came out for a visibility event in Santa Rosa. On Sunday, over 350 people came out to Mitote Food Park to mark the 15th annual Transgender Day of Visibility. Attendees ate food, played games, and wrote on a Trans Day of Visibility banner several phrases like “There is no greater love than loving yourself,” and, “Look at how far you’ve come. I believe in you, keep going.” The six organizations that put on the event also had information on site regarding services and support for the community. Several people also spoke to the crowd, telling their stories and the importance of showing up and speaking out. The event comes in the wake of multiple anti-trans legislation in states across the country.
