A suspected catalytic converter thief didn’t get very far in Santa Rosa. On Saturday, a Santa Rosa police officer caught 33-year-old Michael McGarvey in the act of removing the expensive car part in the parking lot of Nagasawa Park, and arrested him. McGarvey was cutting the catalytic converter off a stolen truck with a power saw. A second man was detained for questioning and released. Police say more than 800 Santa Rosa residents have had their catalytic converters stolen since 2020.
