Kenwood School District Opposes Joining with Santa Rosa City Schools

The small Kenwood School District is formally opposing a plan to consolidate with Santa Rosa City Schools. It is the first local school district to do so. On Thursday night, Kenwood officials quickly and unanimously voted against consolidation. The district has just 113 students in kindergarten through the sixth grade. The consolidation plan calls for Kenwood and eight other feeder districts to fold into Santa Rosa City Schools. Proponents say the move would make students more successful and save millions of dollars in administrative costs.
