Sonoma Valley High Student Competing in National Poetry Competition

A 16-year-old sophomore from Sonoma Valley High School is going to compete in a national poetry recitation competition. Last month, Riley O’Hara got 1st place in the California Poetry Out Loud competition, beating out kids from all over the state. He recited “Sonnet #29” by William Shakespeare, “1969” by Alexi Dimitrov and “We Are Not Responsible” by Harryette Mullen. O’Hara will represent California at the national contest in Washington D.C. on April 29th where he will have an opportunity to secure up to $50,000 in college scholarship funds.
