A man from Santa Rosa has been ordered to stand trial in connection with a deadly shooting at an apartment complex in Cotati. A judge upheld the Samuel Meza’s charges, including one count of murder, following a two-hour preliminary hearing on Tuesday. Thirty-four-year-old Meza is accused of killing a 25-year-old man last August 19th. Investigators say the shooting stemmed from a fight about a woman. Meza’s attorney tried to get the murder charge downgraded to manslaughter, saying the shooting was the result of a fight and acts of passion.
