Sonoma County is in the process of creating a public memorial for its two-dozen residents who died in the Tubbs Fire in 2017. If approved by the city of Santa Rosa, the memorial would be placed in Nagasawa Community Park, on the western edge of Fountaingrove. Last month, the Sonoma County Board of Supervisors approved 536-thousand-dollars in funding for the project. A task force handling the project will soon be taking proposals from local artists who want to create the memorial. The next step after that is designing the memorial, then installation, which is expected to be done by September of 2025.
