Sonoma Valley Schools Agree to Community Resource Officer’s List if Responsibilities

The Sonoma Valley Unified School District Board of Trustees have approved a document outlining the responsibilities of the Sonoma Police Department’s community resource officer. They include providing a police presence on campuses to deter criminal behavior, working with district staff to maintain safe campuses, educating students on the dangers of alcohol and drugs, and working with students and their families to promote healthy lifestyles and behavioral choices. The memorandum of understanding regarding these responsibilities was passed last Thursday by the school board with a 4 to 1 vote. Deputy Ed Esponda is serving as the community resource officer for Sonoma Valley Schools through June 30th, 2025.
