The Superintendent of Santa Rosa City Schools is on the way out. Anna Trunnell has announced this morning that she is stepping down as Superintendent at the end of the current school year. Trunnell says her decision to leave the district is deeply personal, as she looks forward to reuniting with her family after spending weekdays away from them while serving the Santa Rosa community. A successor has not yet been named. Trunnell has been superintendent since July of 2021 in the midst of the pandemic. Under her leadership, Santa Rosa City Schools transitioned from distance learning back to in-person instruction, increased mental health supports and staffing, and prioritized family engagement efforts, including the establishment of the Superintendent’s Advisory Network.
