A 50-year-old Santa Rosa woman has pleaded guilty for her role in a New England drug trafficking operation led by her husband. Earlier this month, Christina Lua pleaded guilty to one count of a second superseding indictment charging her with money laundering conspiracy. She is scheduled to be sentenced in July and faces up to 20 years in prison, three years of supervised release and a fine of $500-thousand. Federal prosecutors say Lua helped launder the proceeds from her husband’s marijuana and methamphetamine sales across New England. Her husband, 62-year-old Reshat Alkayisi, has pleaded guilty to charges of conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute methamphetamine; possessing a gun in furtherance of drug trafficking; and money laundering.
