April proved to be record breaking for the SMART Train. Over 80-thousand passengers rode the SMART Train last month marking the highest month of ridership ever in its history. They also noted that off-peak hour ridership surged by 36-percent. Along with other moves, SMART credits this achievement to reducing fares by 40-percent and making it free for seniors and youth to ride. The agency expects ridership to grow.
