$142-Million SMART Train Draft Budget Released for Next Fiscal Year

The SMART Train’s proposed budget for the next fiscal year is out and open for review. SMART released the draft budget on Friday with an expected revenue of about $120-million dollars and spending set at $142-million. This is for the fiscal year 2024-25 which begins this July. A big chunk of the spending for the upcoming fiscal year will be around building extensions and pathways totaling around $65-million dollars. Public comment on the budget is open until May 31st and can be viewed at SonomaMarinTrain.org.

Marin County Supervisor and Chair of the SMART Board of Directors, Eric Lucan, spoke with KSRO’s Michelle Marques and Larry Olson regarding the draft budget and other matters concerning the SMART Train.
