There are new details about what led to the arrest of a man who murdered his friend, burying his body in a shallow grave near Forestville. Earlier this month, the suspect, Juan Martinez, was sentenced for murdering Deydhy Silverio-Castro and posing as a kidnapper to commit extortion. Court documents say, in June of 2022, Silverio-Castro’s girlfriend got a call from a man demanding 150-thousand-dollars for the safe return of her boyfriend. Martinez then called her 20 minutes later, asking if she was doing okay after her boyfriend vanished. She recognized Martinez’s voice from the earlier ransom call, hung up, and called police a short time later.
