Lake County Gets $16-Million in Federal Funds for Wildfire Prep

The federal government is giving Lake County 16-million-dollars to help it better prepare for wildfire season. The grant comes from the U.S. Department of Agriculture. The county will be using the money to add to its firefighting and prevention resources in several communities, including Clear Lake, Seigler Springs and Scotts Valley. The Clear Lake Environmental Research Center is getting more than eight-million-dollars from the grant. It will be using that to clear excess brush on private lands and roadways, and to restore plants that naturally adapt to fire.
