An armed suspect in Sonoma surrendered to police after a seven-hour standoff. Early Thursday morning, Sonoma Police got a call of a violent domestic situation at an apartment complex on the 1200 block of Broadway. The suspect was behind a closed door when police arrived and refused to come out. The complex was evacuated for safety reasons. After many conversations, the suspect, 45-year-old Levar James Gilbert, surrendered and was arrested “without further incident.” He’s being charged with domestic violence, being a felon in possession of a firearm, threat to commit crime/terrorist threat, attempted murder, false imprisonment and kidnapping.
