A large prescribed burn is scheduled for late Thursday and into Friday north of Lake Sonoma. The Northern Sonoma County Fire District, along with other fire agencies, will start a prescribed burn in the early evening hours today that will go into the night as long as conditions stay right. Burning will then resume on Friday morning. The prescribed burn may cover as much as 775 acres of grass, brush, and forested areas. The prescribed burn is being timed to take advantage of cooler weather after our current warm windy weather and before expected warmer and drier summertime conditions. Additional smaller prescribed burns are planned to occur in the next couple of weeks throughout Sonoma County.
