A burning barn was the cause of a huge plume of smoke seen above Petaluma on Thursday afternoon. Four agencies responded to the fire just outside of Petaluma, which was reported at about 2:20 p.m. The fire did not pose a threat to nearby buildings and did not prompt evacuation orders. The cause of the fire has not been determined.
There was also a small fire off the Joe Rodota Trail yesterday at around the same time. The vegetation fire was reported on Roberts Avenue off of Sebastopol Road along the trail. It burned 100 feet by 25 feet of vegetation before firefighters got in under control. The fire is under investigation. No injuries were reported.
