Trial Begins for Suspect in Rancho Cotate High School Classmate Murder from 2016

A man accused of killing his Rancho Cotate High School classmate nearly eight years ago is about to go on trial. Opening statements in the trial of Daniel Carrillo were scheduled for Wednesday, but were pushed back to tomorrow. Carrillo is accused of murdering 18-year-old Kirk Kimberly in October of 2016. Kimberly’s body was found buried in a shallow grave on Sonoma State University property in Rohnert Park. Carrillo is accused of stabbing Kimberly at least six times.
