The Santa Rosa Fire Department is declaring Monday, June 10th, as the official start of fire season. The department made the announcement yesterday, to ensure the community is better prepared for wildfires. Starting Monday, the Santa Rosa Fire Department will start its annual weed abatement inspections to ensure owners of required properties cut weeds and grasses that are more than four inches in height and maintain compliance throughout the fire season. Properties required to take this measure include those within the Wildland Urban Interface, on all vacant lots across Santa Rosa, including those in fire rebuilding areas, or developed properties with more than a half-acre of unimproved land.
