Today is the official start of fire season in Santa Rosa. The Santa Rosa Fire Department made the announcement following a wet winter that promoted growth, a spike in hot and dry weather, and increased fire activity. Fire season has started at about this time of year for the past several years. Fire officials are reminding people to cut down weeds, create a defensible space around their property and manage any other vegetation that may pose a fire risk.
