Sebastopol Jumps Back Onto Gravenstein Commons Project After Threat of Lawsuit

The Sebastopol City Council is putting a homeless housing project back on their agenda after being threatened with legal action. The council voted on April 2nd to reverse its prior support for the Gravenstein Commons Project for the homeless. Council members cited the financial risk to the city if it had to complete the project alone, should St. Vincent de Paul drop out. Attorneys for the charity filed a public records request at the end of May for all documents related to Gravenstein Commons and said they were investigating why the city “breached its commitment.“ Council member Sandra Maurer said the city can’t afford another lawsuit, so it will be voted on again.
