Santa Rosa City Schools Board to Vote on New Superintendent Tonight

Tonight, the Santa Rosa City Schools Board will vote on whether to confirm the appointment of the woman chosen to be the district’s next superintendent. Last Friday, the district chose Doctor Daisy Morales, who speaks both English and Spanish. But, since then, the choice has faced some backlash due to how Morales’ tenure ended in Santa Cruz. Earlier this year, she resigned as superintendent of the Live Oak School District after three years. Union representatives casted a no-confidence vote in her leadership and the Santa Cruz County Office of Education gave the district a formal notice of bad fiscal standing. Live Oak is just ten percent the size of Santa Rosa City Schools.
