Sonoma County is facing prime wildfire conditions far earlier in the season than usual. Cal Fire Battalion Chief Marshall Turbeville tells the Press Democrat the early onset of extreme heat has dried fuels out to a level usually not seen until August or September, when the rainy season has been over for several months. Turbeville says the current conditions in early July are almost like what is usually seen in the fall. There are already drought-like conditions, despite the heavy rains that soaked the region earlier this year.
