A DUI checkpoint in Petaluma on Saturday night resulted in the arrest of a driver that sped through the checkpoint and failed to stop as directed. The driver was pulled over after speeding through a police checkpoint on Petaluma Boulevard North and Gossage Avenue while going about 80 mph, nearly hitting a stopped vehicle. Police pursued the vehicle more than a quarter-mile before the driver yielded near Corona Road. The driver was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol. A total of five drivers were arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence across the city during the Fourth of July weekend.
