Caltrans confirms it has removed a racist message from an electronic road sign in Mendocino County. Officials say, on Saturday, someone broke into a control box off Highway 128 just north of the Sonoma County border. The person typed what’s being called a “hateful message” that included a racial slur and warned that Black people “aren’t welcome.” The sign is owned by Cloverdale-based Rege Construction and was there as part of an emergency culvert project.
