The nomination period is now open for several positions across Sonoma County for the 2024 November Election. Candidate nominations opened on Monday, July 15, for school, municipal and special district offices. Registered voters in Sonoma County who are interested in running for any of the available seats must file nomination papers between now and August 9th in order to have their names placed on the November 5th ballot. If nomination papers for an incumbent elective officer are not filed by close of business on August 9th, candidates other than the incumbent shall have until August 14 to file for that office. Nine cities in Sonoma County have city council positions up for election including four seats in Santa Rosa, three in Petaluma, and three in Rohnert Park.
