579th Engineer Battalion Returns Home After a 10-Month Deployment

The 579th Engineer Battalion has returned home. About 125 of its soldiers landed at the Charles M Schulz-Sonoma County Airport on Saturday after spending nearly a year stationed in the Middle East. About 50 people, mostly friends and family, gathered to welcome them home. The 579th Engineer Battalion was based in Kuwait, but had conducted operations throughout the region, including in Jordan, Qatar, Iraq and Syria. They completed about 900 projects, ranging from concrete pads to buildings, guard shacks, towers and bunkers.
