Emily F. Cutrer will serve as the interim president of Sonoma State University. Cutrer was president of Texas A&M University Texarkana for a decade before her retirement in 2022. She was also previously the provost and vice president of academic affairs at California State University San Marcos. Cutrer will officially begin as interim president on August 1st. She will replace former SSU president Mike Lee, who retired after being suspended in May. Lee faced backlash from the California State University system after agreeing to meet certain demands made by pro-Palestinian protesters on campus without prior CSU approval.
