The historic Monte Rio Theater, which nearly closed for good in December, will remain open indefinitely. Owners David and Kim Lockhart announced this after Rachel Price, an archivist and filmmaker, joined the ownership team. Price, who has a passion for preserving history and film, has provided the resources needed to keep the theater running. The theater, housed in a World War II-era Quonset hut, will continue to show a mix of new, independent, and art house films, along with hosting live bands and open mic nights. The Lockharts aim to make the theater a community centerpiece and a thriving part of the West County.
