The City of Santa Rosa is launching a new program to tackle neglected and vacant properties. It aims to address safety hazards and improve neighborhood aesthetics. Property owners will be given notices to clean up their lots, and if they fail to comply, the city will step in to do the work and bill the owners. Violators will also have to register their property with the city and pay a $1,040 annual registration fee. This effort is part of a broader strategy to enhance community well-being and stop urban blight. The program goes into effect on August 1st, however many of the maintenance requirements were already required in the city code.
