Handgun confiscated from David Chombo Garcia (Santa Rosa Police)

A Healdsburg man was arrested in Santa Rosa after being found with a loaded gun during a traffic stop. On Thursday afternoon, a Santa Rosa police officer pulled over a driver in the area of Randall Lane and westbound Highway 12 for talking on their cell phone. The officer learned the driver, 24-year-old David Chombo Garcia, was on probation for a previous DUI conviction, and that his driver’s license was suspended because of that DUI. Additionally, Garcia is mandated to have an ignition interlock device in his vehicle, which he did not have. Garcia was detained and the officer found a loaded handgun in a satchel under a towel on the front passenger seat of the vehicle, within arm’s reach of Garcia at the time he was stopped. Garcia was arrested and was charged with violation of probation, carrying a concealed firearm in a vehicle, operating a vehicle without a court-ordered ignition interlock device, and driving on a suspended license for DUI.
