A man is behind bars in connection with a hit-and-run collision that killed an 81-year-old woman walking in Saint Helena. Dominic Carvalho, from Yountville, was arrested on Wednesday night in connection with the deadly collision last Sunday. Jackie Rhodes, who police say was an avid walker, was hit and knocked into a ditch while walking on the shoulder of Highway 29. Rhodes was conscious and alert when two pedestrians found her. But, she died at a hospital in Napa later in the day. The 43-year-old Carvalho, is facing three felony charges, including DUI causing injury, not stopping after a crash that caused an injury and vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated.
